Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American singer and actress whose dramatic versatility earned her praise across a range of genres ranging from period drama to thriller and action adventure. Johansson is the daughter of a film director as well as an architect. The family is from New York City. Hunter was twins with their younger sisters. She developed an interest in acting from a very young age auditioning for commercials by age seven. She was enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after and went to the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to continue her training. As a child Johansson was in Sophistry alongside Ethan Hawke and made her film debut in Rob Reiner's North on the set of Rob Reiner's North in. Johansson played the lead role in Just Cause (1995), prior to her breakthrough by starring in Manny & Lo - a story about two sisters, orphans that get away. Her next film won critical acclaim for her role as a teenage girl who been injured in a horrific accident in The Horse Whisperer (1998) and gained more attention in the role of a sarcastic teen who is a solitary Rebecca in Ghost World (2001).
