
Adele Mara April 28, 1923 (died May 7, 2010) was an American actress, singer, and dancer, who was in films during the 1940s and 1950s, and on television during the 1950s and 1960s. With the professional name Adele St. Mara, she was signed to Columbia Pictures [citation needed] and gained experience working in the studio's "B" features as well as comedy shorts. Then, she was changed to Adele Mara. Mara began her career as a receptionist in the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks portrayed the sisters as Rita Hayworth's character in Fred Astaire's film You Were Never Lovelier. She plays the role of Alias Boston Blackie (1942), as the sister to the wrongfully accused and exiled prisoner. When her Columbia contract expired and she was transferred to Republic Pictures where she was frequently seen in outdoor adventure and westerns. She was an actor in the supporting roles of Don Siegel's Count the Hours and The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch.
